Sibur shows interest in Uzbekistan’s petrochemical projects

The Russian company has showed interest in the projects that are moving forward and dynamically transforming deep hydrocarbon processing activities in the country.

Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov, the delegation of SIBUR Holding PJSC (Russia) led by Chairman of the Management Board Dmitry Konov and the top managers at Uzbekneftegaz JSC arrived at the Shurtan gas chemical centre in Kashkadarya Region. The Russian company has shown great interest in the projects that are moving forward and dynamically transforming deep hydrocarbon processing activities in the country and speeding up the development of the petrochemical industry, the press office of the Ministry reported.

They considered two ambitious investment projects, including the project aimed at increasing production capacity of the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex. The goal of the project is to increase the annual production of polyethylene by 28,000 tonnes, polypropylene – by 100,000 tonnes and pyrolysis distillation and oil – by 50,000 tonnes by processing 430,000 tonnes of synthetic naphtha produced at the GTL plant. 

The implementation of this project is to increase the annual production of polymer products to 505,000 tonnes, along with the modernisation of existing equipment and the creation of new technological networks at the complex.

The main processes at the centre are performed through the ethylene and polyethylene production unit. The production departments are fitted with advanced instrumentation and automation technologies that maintain product quality.
