Central Asia’s position on water issues presented in Dushanbe

This will be done at the Central Asian Sub-regional Preparatory Conference for the 9th World Water Forum.

On October 19, the capital of Tajikistan hosted the first day of the Central Asian Sub-regional Preparatory Conference for the 9th World Water Forum. Following the event, the Central Asia’s position on water issues will be presented, the Khovar State News Agency reported.

The event was organised by the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS). The conference attendees included Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda. He touched upon the issues related to access to safe drinking water, sanitation and comprehensive water resource management. He recalled that Dushanbe had taken over the chairmanship of the IFAS for 2020-2023.

Speaking at the conference, a representative of the Ministry of Energy Daler Abdurazzokzoda said all comments and proposals of the participants would be summarised in the outcome document and presented as the Central Asia’s position on this issue at the Water Forum.

The 9th World Water Forum will be held in Dakar, Senegal on March 22-26, 2022. It will focus on four priorities: Water Security and Sanitation; Water for rural development; Cooperation; Means and Tools.
