China and Kyrgyzstan strengthen contacts to ensure regional security

It was noted that relations between the competent departments of the two countries were moving forward despite the pandemic.

Secretary of the Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic Marat Imankulov held talks with External Security Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China Cheng Guoping via videoconference. The interlocutors discussed the possibilities of promoting bilateral security partnership, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

Special attention was paid to regional security issues, including those related to the situation in Afghanistan. The prospects for cooperation in countering terrorism, extremism and separatism were discussed.

The parties discussed the further development of the interdepartmental interregional cooperation mechanism “Security Dialogue between the Kyrgyz Republic and the XUAR of the PRC”.

Imankulov and Guoping agreed to promote cooperation in the above-mentioned area and expand relations between the XUAR of the PRC and Kyrgyzstan.

It was noted that despite pandemic restrictions, dynamic and targeted working contacts between the competent departments continued across the entire spectrum of interactions between the two countries.
