On October 8, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev met with Chairman of the Board of Directors at PAO SIBUR Holding Dmitry Konov. The agenda focused on economic issues. The interlocutors discussed the implementation of the initiatives in the oil and gas industry, in particular the issues of deep hydrocarbon processing, the press office of Akorda reported.

The President welcomed the idea of building a facility that would produce polypropylene and polyethylene in Kazakhstan and signing an agreement on cooperation with the national companies Samruk-Kazyna and KazMunayGas. The President emphasised this factor would give a powerful impetus to speed up partnerships between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.

SIBUR Holding will be engaged to build jointly a large-scale petrochemical complex. In this context, Tokayev promised that the executive power of the republic would provide all kinds of assistance in developing all related projects.

The leader of Kazakhstan said Kazakhstan and Russia had outlined targeted measures to achieve practical results in economic cooperation. Tokayev specified that these goals had been agreed with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the recent Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum.
