Tajik political scientist Khaidarov accuses Taliban of untenability

The expert responded to the Taliban’s statement about Tajikistan’s interference in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.

On September 27, Deputy Director at the Institute of Philosophy, Political Science and Law of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan Rustam Khaidarov said the Taliban movement (a terrorist organisation banned in Russia) was powerless and untenable in an interview with the Khovar State News Agency. He raised the topic in response to the militants' statement about Tajikistan.

The representatives of the radical organisation previously stated that the Central Asian republic was interfering in the internal affairs of Afghanistan. Deputy Prime Minister of the new government Abdul Ghani Baradar raised the issue.

Khaidarov emphasised that the Taliban had faced a crisis in the management of the economic and social processes. They have no road map out of the current situation. In addition, the militants are not used to leading a peaceful life. The only thing they were active in was intimidation of citizens, public executions and the establishment of medieval rules of life, the analyst explained.

In such conditions, it was very advantageous to blame everything on outside interference, the political scientist noted. He added that Tajikistan neither interfered nor intended to interfere in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.
