Foreign Minister speaks about hydropower potential of Tajikistan

Sirojiddin Muhriddin touched upon the topic in the framework of the High-Level Dialogue on Energy on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

On September 24, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin participated in the High-Level Dialogue on Energy. The event was organised on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported on September 25.

The dialogue was convened by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. This political platform focuses on expanding cooperation in providing access to ‘green’ and affordable energy worldwide.

In his speech, Mukhriddin emphasised that energy was a key instrument in achieving Sustainable Development Goal 7. He also informed the participants in the Dialogue about the achievements of Tajikistan in the hydropower sector.

As was reported, the delegation of the Republic took part in the Annual Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Group of Landlocked Developing Countries. The Tajik officials dwelt on energy issues at the event, noting that this industry was a priority one in Tajikistan.
