Kyrgyzstan renders humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan

Humanitarian cargo was delivered to Kabul on behalf of the leader of the Central Asian republic, Japarov.

On September 23, a Kyrgyz delegation headed by Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Taalatbek Masadykov arrived in Kabul. Humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan was provided on behalf of President Sadyr Japarov as part of the mission, the press office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The President’s Office did not specify what exactly had been delivered to Kabul. The cargo was handed over officially to Acting First Deputy Prime Minister Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar. Then the Kyrgyz official held talks with the head of the newly established administration.

Emphasising that Afghanistan was badly in need of support, Baradar said humanitarian aid from the international community had not arrived in Kabul so far, and Afghanistan’s financial accounts were frozen.

The Deputy Prime Minister added that the Taliban (a terrorist organisation banned in Russia) intended to establish peace in the country and restore the economy to improve the lives of citizens.

Masadykov had a meeting with Acting Foreign Minister of Afghanistan Amir Khan Muttaqi.
