Japarov proposes solution to Tajik-Kyrgyz issue

The President of Kyrgyzstan arrived in Tajikistan to participate in the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council.

On September 16, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov arrived in Tajikistan for a working visit. The presidential aircraft landed at the Dushanbe International Airport where he was greeted by Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda. Japarov will take part in the CSTO and SCO summits, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

Speaking at the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, the President of Kyrgyzstan raised the issue of the recent conflict on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border. Japarov called on the countries to pay attention to tensions in the border regions between the two republics.

Japarov suggested that the CSTO develop rapid response mechanisms in case one of the CSTO Member States would attack another.

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic also drew the attention of the leaders of the CSTO Member States to Kyrgyzstan’s intention to continue a strategic dialogue with partners within the organisation on all issues of mutual interest to ensure the effectiveness and efficiency of its work.
