Presidents of Tajikistan and Iran hold special meeting

Rahmon and Raisi will hold extensive negotiations with delegations and sign a package of new partnership agreements.

On September 16, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Sayyid Ebrahim Raisi will arrive in the capital of Tajikistan for an official visit. He will meet with President Emomali Rahmon. The parties intend to hold special negotiations, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.

The programme of the visit includes meetings of official delegations that are expected to sign a package of new documents aimed at expanding interstate cooperation.

After the official events, the leaders of Tajikistan and Iran intend to sign a joint statement aimed at building up ties between the Republics.

On July 27, Rahmon refused to come to Tehran for the inauguration of Raisi due to the visit the Avaza tourism zone in Turkmenistan, where he took part in the Central Asian Summit on August 6.

On June 8, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin received IRI Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian. A memorandum of understanding was signed on the same day.
