SCO leaders to discuss Afghan issues in Dushanbe on September 17

The participants in the anniversary summit will sum up the results of the SCO’s activities over 20 years.

On September 12, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan informed that the first meeting of the leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, chaired by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, would take place in Dushanbe on September 17, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan reported.

The leaders of the SCO and CSTO Member States will exchange views on the current security situation in Afghanistan and its impact on neighbouring countries.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, more than 20 participants are expected to attend the anniversary summit.

In particular, President of Russia Vladimir Putin, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan, President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi and President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov will attend the event.

The participants in the anniversary summit will sum up the results of the SCO’s activities over 20 years and the current state and prospects of multilateral cooperation within the organisation.
