On September 9, the Government of Uzbekistan issued the resolution on the awarding of cash prizes to winners in the regional and republican stages of school Olympiads. The document approved the regulation on the procedure for organising and conducting subject Olympiads among students of secondary schools, academic lyceums and vocational schools.
Several types of Olympiads will be conducted. The main Olympiad in certain subjects will be conducted in 4 stages:
Stage 1 – in September, at the level of schools, academic lyceums and vocational schools;
Stage 2 – in October, at the district or city level;
Stage 3 – in November, at the level of Karakalpakstan, regions and Tashkent;
Stage 4 – in April-May, in all subjects, at the republican level.
The winners in each subject are the students who take from 1st to 3rd places. In Stage 3, an award of 3 BRVs (1 BRV is 245,000 soums or US$ 23) will be presented for 3rd place, 4 BRVs for 2nd place and 5 BRVs for 1st place.
In Stage 4, 3rd place winners will receive 6 BRVs, 2nd place winners will receive 8 BRVs and 1st place winners will receive 12 BRVs. These winners will receive electronic certificates entitling them to the maximum score on entrance exams to state universities.
