Rahmon condemns indifference of global institutions to situation in Afghanistan

The President of Tajikistan called on the world community not to remain indifferent to the tense situation in Afghanistan.

On September 8, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon delivered a speech at the solemn ceremony marking the 30th anniversary of independence of the Republic. He touched upon the issue of great concern – the current security situation in Afghanistan, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.

“The instability and tragedy that befell the people of this ancient country are the result of foreign interventions, that is, the actions of interested parties in the region and the world, which continue today,” Rahmon said.

The President said the world community remained silent and showed no initiative to support the rights of Afghan citizens.

He emphasised that the people of Afghanistan with its thousand-year history, civilization and culture were not to blame for such a tragic situation.

The leader of Tajikistan said the situation in Afghanistan directly affected the Central Asian states, since regional security depended primarily on the situation in the neighbouring country.
