Minister of Energy and Chairman of ACWA POWER discuss further partnerships

The aspects of cooperation in the projects of thermal power plants and wind farms, as well as the prospects for interaction were discussed.

On September 6, Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Alisher Sultanov had a meeting with Chairman of ACWA Power Mohammad Abdullah Abunayyan. The parties discussed the aspects of current bilateral cooperation in the projects of thermal power plants and wind farms, as well as the prospects for strengthening partnerships, the press office of the Ministry of Energy reported to CentralAsia.news.

Sultanov emphasised with satisfaction that the Arab company was conducting building and assembly works on a 1,500MW thermal power plant near the Syrdarya thermal power plant according to the schedule. Potting soil works on the construction site are being conducted, and building works on a workers’ camp have been completed.

Uzbekistan and ACWA Power signed an investment agreement early this year, according to which the Saudi Arabian company would build two wind farms in Bukhara Region. In this regard, the Minister said Uzbekistan was looking forward to completing anemometry studies on the wind farm.

The Uzbek side thanked the interlocutors for their valuable contribution to opening a special training centre at the College of Energy in Shirin town.
