The Turkmen leader noted that the new gas turbine power plant is important for the supply of energy to Afghanistan.
On September 5, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent a letter with congratulations to the Emperor of Japan Naruhito on the occasion of the opening of a gas turbine power plant in Lebap province, built by well-known Japanese companies, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».
According to Berdimuhamedov, the facility is a symbol of effective cooperation between Ashgabat and Tokyo. He stressed that the new GTPP will increase the stability and reliability of power supply to the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The national leader recalled that Japanese companies had already implemented a number of large projects in the field of oil and gas, chemical and energy industries in Turkmenistan.
The new gas turbine power plant located on the territory of the Lebap State Power Plant was opened on September 3. The facility has a capacity of 432 megawatts. The project was implemented by the state company Türkmenenergo, the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, Sumitomo Corporation, Mitsubishi Power Ltd and Rönesans Holding.
