In this regard, Tokayev focused on the relevance of creating transport infrastructure that would connect economically the parts of geography. The President informed about the potential and capacities of his country to create transit hubs, including in conformity of the national plans to the EAEU’s activities and China’s Belt and Road initiative.

Tokayev said Kazakhstan’s transit had proved its economic attractiveness and reliability, and therefore the country was aiming at further improving the infrastructure. He provided an example of the Dostyk-Moiynty railway that would be built soon to encourage freight traffic from the PRC. Investments in the project would exceed $ 2 billion, the President said.
