Putting commends Rahmon for promoting Russian language

The President of the Russian Federation appreciated the efforts made by the leader of Tajikistan in this direction during a meeting with students.

On August 25, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin held a meeting with lecturers, students and graduates of the institutions of higher education of the country via videoconference. He highly evaluated the efforts made by the leader of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to promote the Russian language, the press office of the President of the Russian Federation reports.

Putin raised this topic during his conversation with a RUDN student from the Republic of Tajikistan Abdullokhodzhi Babayev, who would begin to study at the General Medicine department in September. The Russian leader noted that Rahmon paid special attention to popularising the Russian language in Tajikistan.

Putin said they discussed Moscow’s assistance to Dushanbe in promoting the Russian language and outlined specific steps during a recent telephone conversation with the leader of the Republic.

Russia provides humanitarian cultural aid to Tajikistan on a consistent basis. In early March, the schools throughout the Republic received over 4,500 textbooks on various subjects from Moscow through Rossotrudnichestvo.

On January 10, the Sozidanie Russian cultural and educational centre for compatriots in Tajikistan opened in Tursunzade.
