Ambassador of Uzbekistan presents letters of credence to leader of Republic of Lithuania

The Tashkent-Vilnius political dialogue and the tendency to improve mutual trade and economic cooperation received a positive assessment.

On August 17, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Lithuania with residence in Riga Kadambay Sultanov held talks with President of Lithuania Gitanas Nauseda and presented his letters of credence. The Tashkent-Vilnius political dialogue and the tendency to improve mutual trade and economic cooperation received a positive assessment, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reports.

It was emphasised that Lithuania became the second largest trade partner of Uzbekistan after Germany among the EU states last year.

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan informed in detail about the progress of major reforms achieved in Uzbekistan under Shavkat Mirziyoyev over the past few years, the expanding areas of Uzbekistan-Lithuania partnerships and regional issues.

The President of Lithuania said Vilnius highly evaluated the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, which were welcomed by all EU states.

The interlocutors noted that the Agreement on Enhanced Cooperation and Partnership to be signed would significantly intensify Uzbekistan-EU cooperation.
