Tokayev receives report from Prosecutor General

The Prosecutor General reported on the progress of the first stage of transition to the three-tier criminal justice system.

On August 9, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev received Prosecutor General of the Republic Gizat Nurdualetov, who reported on the work done this year, the press office of Akorda reports.

The Prosecutor General reported in detail on the current criminal situation in the country and the measures taken to detect fraudulent activity and prevent violence against children, drug trafficking and other socially dangerous acts.

The Prosecutor General reported on the progress of the first stage of transition to the three-tier criminal justice system and the preparatory work for the second stage, scheduled for 2022.

The President asked about the outcomes of the investigations into a number of sensational cases and the measures taken to protect public interests. Nurdaletov reported that special actions had been taken to protect the rights of 5,000 citizens and 92,000 businesses this year. 17 billion tenge had been returned to the budget, and criminal and administrative measures had been taken against more than 11,000 persons.

The interlocutors also discussed the issues related to international contacts in the field of criminal justice. It was noted that agreements with foreign states were expected to be concluded and a number of multilateral events to be attended.
