Mirziyoyev meets with his Turkmen counterpart in Avaza

The parties discussed the progress on the implementation of previously reached agreements.

On August 6, the leader of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in the Avaza tourism zone. The interlocutors paid particular attention to deepening interstate relations in accordance with previously reached agreements, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The agenda covered key aspects of bilateral relations at the international and regional levels and within actively developing strategic cooperation.

The leaders of the two states focused on building up cultural and humanitarian ties, mutually beneficial trade, the growth prospects of transport logistics and entering modern markets through South Asia and the South Caucasus with access to the international transport and transit corridors under the Ashgabat agreement.

The leaders of the two states also discussed the tasks of promoting joint programmes and strengthening ties between the neighbouring regions and business communities of the two countries to enhance mutually beneficial contacts.

As was reported, a visit of Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov to Ashgabat at the head of an official delegation preceded the meeting of the leaders of the two states in Avaza. The Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan held fruitful talks with Deputy Chairmen of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Chary Gylyjov.
