Uzbekistan and Korea expand cooperation in investment sector

The parties agreed to implement joint projects to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

On July 30, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov had a meeting with his Korean counterpart Chung Eui-yong during his official visit to Korea. The politicians agreed to strengthen ties in the investment sector and implement a number of joint projects to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Korea reported to CentralAsia.news.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that Uzbekistan and Korea continued to strengthen ties in trade, economy, culture, healthcare and education, combat climate change and implement other activities amidst the pandemic.

The Korean official said the Republic of Uzbekistan was a key partner of the Government of Korea in implementing the New Northern Policy and expressed hope for close cooperation with Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, to ensure the prosperity of the Eurasian continent. Kamilov confirmed that the leadership of Uzbekistan support the New Norther Policy. The sides were unanimous that 180,000 Koreans living in Uzbekistan were a bridge in fostering bilateral ties.
