Presidential election campaign starts in Uzbekistan

According to the Central Election Commission, the election of the President of Uzbekistan will be held on October 24 this year.

On July 23, the members of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan held a meeting to launch the presidential election campaign. The election of the President of Uzbekistan will be held on October 24 this year, the press office of the Central Election Commission reported to CentralAsia.news.

The participants in the meeting emphasised that every political party and their candidates would campaign on an equal basis with other political parties in a healthy competitive environment. The political parties that have nominated their candidates for the election, bodies of local self-government, international institutions, representatives of foreign states and local and foreign media and thousands of observers will monitor the presidential election campaign, including preparations for the election, voter registration and vote count.

With the aim to ensure compliance with electoral laws, the presidential election calendar has been adopted and approved. This document sets forth the step-by-step and day-to-day tasks that the Central Election Commission will fulfil in collaboration with the government agencies, political parties and public associations.

The Central Election Commission and other election commissions will ensure the legality, independence, fairness, openness, transparency and publicity of the entire electoral process.
