Authorities of Kyrgyzstan take steps to disaster preparedness

The President of Kyrgyzstan instructed that the relevant government agencies be put on standby.

On July 21, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov tasked the Cabinet of Ministers to strengthen the measures to prevent natural disasters in the regions of the country. In this regard, he instructed that the relevant government agencies and services be put on standby, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

The leader of Kyrgyzstan emphasised that all the relevant agencies prepare most effectively for natural disasters, including mudflows, landslides and flooding.

The Government was tasked to intensify efforts to reduce the disruptive impacts of mudslides in Jalal-Abad and Batken Regions.

The President expressed his deepest condolences to the families of those killed and injured in the natural disaster.

As was reported, on July 12, 8 people died when a mudslide crashed into Aksy district in Jalal-Abad Region. It also destroyed houses and damaged facilities.

The authorities of Kyrgyzstan said all affected citizens would receive all possible assistance.
