Population census in Kazakhstan takes place in autumn

The first round of a population census will take place online on a special website from September 1 to October 15.

On July 13, First Deputy Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov chaired a meeting of the ad-hoc working group to address related logistical and other preparatory tasks of the 2021 National Population Census of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the press office of the Government of Kazakhstan reported.

The ‘roll-call’ of the population will be held in two rounds. The first round will take place online on a special website from September 1 to October 15. The second round will take place in a traditional format – house-to-house visits. This round will take place from October 1 to October 30.

Alikhanov set the tasks of finalising recruitment and vaccination of personnel. The relevant government agencies and regional departments should involve volunteer organisations and unemployed citizens in the project as recipients of information. The necessary measures should be taken to ensure safety of census takers and prevent fraudulent actions of unscrupulous persons.

The Deputy Prime Minister instructed that akims raise awareness of the upcoming nationwide event, using public messengers and other means of communication. Alikhanov also underlined the importance of storing personal data of individuals, which is protected under the Law On State Statistics.
