Tajik Minister of Foreign Affairs receives his Chinese counterpart

Sirojiddin Muhriddin and Wang Yi discussed the vectors of further bilateral cooperation.

On July 13, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Mukhriddin received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi. The parties discussed a wide range of issues relating to cooperation between the countries, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.

The talks focused on interactions to counter terrorism, extremism and illicit drug trafficking. The interlocutors paid special attention to internal instability in Afghanistan and the need to ensure regional security.

They also touched upon the coronavirus pandemic. Mukhriddin thanked Beijing for donating 300,000 vaccine doses to Dushanbe.

The Ministers exchanged views on the prospects for establishing joint ventures in the light, food, mining and transport sectors. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan said Dushanbe supported China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

After the meeting, Muhriddin and Wang Yi signed new documents on cooperation between the diplomatic departments.
