Ozoda Rahmon instructs to control prices for air tickets to Russia

Head of the Administration of the President of Tajikistan ordered that ticket prices be prevented from rising.

On July 9, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Ozoda Rahmon instructed the officials to tighten control over prices for air tickets from Dushanbe to cities in the Russian Federation. She highlighted the importance of fighting against dishonest citizens, the Tojikiston TV channel reports.

She ordered that ticket prices be prevented from being driven up unjustifiably, noting that the current price for a round-trip ticket was 5,800 somoni (US$ 500).

Ozoda Rahmon said the artificial increase in tariffs led to the people’s mistrust in the Government. Rahmon noted that scammers, taking advantage of the increased demand for tickets, sold or resold them at inflated prices.

As was reported, the scammers were detained in Dushanbe who had sold air tickets from Dushanbe to Moscow for 9,500 somoni (US$833). In some cases, the price reached 12,500 somoni (US $ 1,096).

Yesterday, Somon Air denied rumors that its employee was arrested on suspicion of selling expensive air tickets to Russia.
