European Union ready to continue mutually beneficial partnerships with Kyrgyzstan

The Deputy Prime Minister and the EU Ambassador discussed cooperation in the fight against coronavirus and vaccine distribution.

On July 1, Deputy Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Jyldyz Bakashova met with Head of the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic, Ambassador Eduard Auer. The interlocutors considered the possibilities of continuing bilateral cooperation in the fight against coronavirus and vaccine distribution in the country, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the European Union for providing Kyrgyzstan with support during the pandemic and expressed the hope for effective cooperation in ensuring access to vaccines for citizens under the COVAX scheme.

Auer underlined the readiness to continue mutually beneficial cooperation in implementing social and economic development project and assist in ramping up the vaccination campaign.

The parties discussed a number of aspects of Kyrgyzstan-EU cooperation, including in the education sector.

As is reported, Kyrgyzstan is facing a new fast-surging wave of the pandemic. Over the past 24 hours, 1,485 new cases have been reported in the country.
