Uzbekistan and Qatar sign air services agreement

The document provides for the resumption of direct flights between Doha and Tashkent.

On June 9, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov met with his Qatari counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, who arrived in the capital of Uzbekistan for a working visit. The parties agreed to resume air travel between the two states and signed an air services agreement that provided for the resumption of direct flights between Doha and Tashkent, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan reported.

The officials focused on the current state, prospects and further ways of promoting bilateral relations in such areas as politics, trade, economy, investment and transport, among others. They also discussed cooperation within the international organisations.

The officials expressed readiness to continue joint efforts to advance the Afghan peace process and restore its social and economic infrastructure.

They also discussed Qatar’s participation in the Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities High-Level International Conference, which would take place in Tashkent on July 15-16 this year.
