Maripov discusses problems facing Bishkek with Acting Mayor

The Prime Minister said the municipal authorities must work every day to beautify Bishkek.

On June 8, Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Maripov discussed the key aspects of urban development with the Acting Mayor of Bishkek, noting that the municipal authorities must work every day to beautify Bishkek, the press office of the Government of Kyrgyzstan reported.

“There are the walkways in the centre of Bishkek which are impossible to walk on. The illegal cutting down of green areas, disproportionate expansion of an urban area, empty irrigation ditches and a lack of or broken irrigation system give rise to complaints,” the Prime Minister said.

Highlighting the importance of developing urban infrastructure, the Chairman of the Government instructed that the municipal authorities expedite the submission of proposals for the conversion of one of the city streets into a pedestrian zone.

The Prime Minister instructed the City Hall to speed up negotiations on the supply of modern eco-friendly buses and trolleybuses to Bishkek.
