Ashgabat and St. Petersburg to expand industrial cooperation

The topic was raised within the framework of the meeting of Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov with Governor Alexander Beglov.

On June 3, in St. Petersburg, Deputy Prime Minister, Head of the Supreme Control Chamber, member of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with Alexander Beglov, the governor of the city. The parties discussed issues of further cooperation, as reported by the press office of St. Petersburg administration.

The negotiations were held within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum. Officials drew attention to the importance of expanding cooperation in industry.

Beglov noted that St. Petersburg companies will continue to build highways, bridges, mudflow protection structures in Ashgabat. He also added that the cultural capital of the Russian Federation supported the Alexander Pushkin Joint Turkmen-Russian Secondary School. St. Petersburg archaeologists and orientalists work on the territory of the Central Asian country, noted the governor.

During the meeting, it was underlined that a monument to the Turkmen soldiers who defended Leningrad and received the evacuated residents of the city during the Great Patriotic War would be unveiled in the capital of Turkmenistan.

It should be mentioned that the delegation of Turkmenistan was sent to St. Petersburg to participate in SPIEF-2021 on June 3-4.

In February last year, Beglov met with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in Ashgabat. As part of the visit, a Roadmap for cooperation and a Joint Action Plan for 2020-2025 were signed. The emphasis was placed on the importance of strengthening ties in shipbuilding for the Caspian fleet and the IT sector.

The Russian official has also met with Rashid Meredov, the head of the MFA. They discussed the participation of St. Petersburg enterprises in the construction of the North-South international railway corridor and a complex of mudflow protection structures in Ashgabat, reconstruction of thermal power plants, modernization of oil and gas enterprises of the Central Asian country.
