On June 1, the Mak-2021 anti-drug trafficking action aimed at blocking the routes of illicit trafficking in psychotropic substances will start in Tajikistan.

In early June, Tajikistan will launch the Kuknor-2021 (Mak-2021) action aimed at toughening the fight against drug trafficking. Its main purpose is to block the routes of illicit trafficking in psychotropic substances, the press office of the Drug Control Agency of Tajikistan reports.

In particular, a number of fixed and mobile posts will be set up along the border where tracking and search groups consisting of law enforcement officers will patrol the area. The wild plantations with narcotic plants will be destroyed as part of the Mak-2021 action. The special unit will coordinate the activities of law enforcement officers.

The action will take place in two phases: from June 1 to August 30 and from September 1 to November 30.

As of February 3, 2021, 40 drug trafficking groups, including the transnational associations, have been liquidated in Tajikistan. The members of the Collective Security Treaty Organization will help the Republic combat terrorism and cross-border drug trafficking.
