Tokayev asks about ‘everyday life’ of national legislature

At the present stage, cooperation with the Parliaments of the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and other states is expanding.

On May 27, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev had a meeting with Chairman of the Senate of Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev. The representative of the national legislature reported on the ongoing activities and the fulfillment of the President’s instructions, the press office of Akorda reported.

The parliamentarian said a number of laws, including adjustments and additions to the state budget and amendments to election laws, had been adopted lately. The President had signed these documents recently.

Ashimbayev reported on the adoption by the upper chamber of a law regulating trade operations of the quasi-public sector. He said the parliamentarians were considering the laws aimed at encouraging entrepreneurial activity and improving the tax environment.

The senator noted that the Senate had initiated 12 draft laws since the beginning of the parliamentary sessions, and 3 of them had been approved by the Parliament. Reporting on external activities, the deputy said inter-parliamentary dialogue was developing actively. At the present stage, cooperation with the parliaments of the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and a number of other states is expanding.
