Tajikistan Foreign Ministry tells citizens to avoid travel to Kyrgyzstan

This statement was made in response to the unjustified ban on entry of citizens of Tajikistan into Bishkek.

On May 26, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan urged citizens to avoid travel to Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry officials told citizens to follow their recommendations after citizens of Tajikistan had been prohibited to enter Bishkek and the Somon Air plane had not been allowed to unload, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.

The Ministry officials noted that citizens of Tajikistan should also avoid transit through the territory of Kyrgyzstan to another states. These recommendations were given to legal entities and businessmen involved in freight and passenger transportation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs asked them to travel by alternative routes.

They also stated that in cases where violations of their rights had occurred, citizens could call the hotline of the diplomatic mission of Tajikistan in Kyrgyzstan at +996500442211 and +996312511637.

As was reported, Bishkek did not allow the passengers of the Somon Air plane of Tajikistan, who arrived from Dushanbe on the night of May 25, to enter Kyrgyzstan. There were 177 citizens of Tajikistan on board. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan stated that the Kyrgyz side had given no official and prior notification of its actions.

Prime Minister of Kyrgyzstan Ulukbek Maripov said border outposts would be closed until boundary demarcation disputes were resolved.
