President of Turkmenistan launches construction of «Ashgabat City»

Berdimuhamedov said that the large residential complex would have an area of 744 hectares and include over 200 facilities.

On May 25, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov launched the construction of a large residential complex «Ashgabat City», which will be built in the northern part of the capital. The project will have an area of 744 hectares, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».

The mega complex will include more than 200 various facilities. These are four kindergartens with 1200 places, four secondary schools with 3,000 places, a sports complex with a 500-seat stadium. In total, 180 modern 12-35-storey buildings of various types will be erected in «Ashgabat City». These facilities are designed for more than 107,000 residents.

The main entrance of the mega complex will be a circular bridge in the shape of a Turkmen yurt. Berdimuhamedov said that the creative center, a new building of the Turkmen National Conservatory, will be located on the territory of the residential complex.

The head of the state stressed that the construction of facilities will take more than one year. According to him, due to the coronavirus pandemic, specialists will need to work out the issues of supplying building materials to the country from abroad. He also pointed out the importance of seismic analysis and identification of water supply sources.
