Mother of President of Turkmenistan gives State Museum a bridal cape

The product of national decorative and applied art was embroidered by Ogulabat eje.

The mother of the President of Turkmenistan, Ogulabat Berdimuhamedova, donated embroidered kurte (bridal cape) and socks to the State Museum of the State Cultural Center. The conference «Art, which absorbed the heat of the hearts» was organized In honor of this event. It was reported by «Turkmenistan Today» on May 18.

A corresponding celebration was held by the Mejlis and the Central Council of the Women’s Union. The event was attended by officials, journalists, embroiderers, teachers, scientists, students.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s mother embroidered the kurte for her sister-in-law in 20 days in 1971. The bridal cape is decorated with national ornaments, and its edges are framed with aladja of camel wool. The inscription «1971» is embroidered on it with help of «kojeme» method. The socks also have original ornaments.

In the book «Worshiping Mother — Worshiping Sanctuary» the Turkmen leader wrote that his mother and sisters used to embroider ornaments and knit socks with great love.
