Kyrgyz Prime Minister meets with 99-year-old war veteran

The Prime Minister presented Osmonov with a cash benefit and assured him of the full support of the state.

On May 9, Chairman of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic Ulukbek Maripov visited a veteran of the Great Patriotic War Kasmaly Osmonov in the capital of the country. The Prime Minister presented Osmonov with a cash benefit and emphasised that the state would continue to provide all-round assistance to war veterans and home front workers, the press office of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic reports.

“Your feat is a shining example of courage and honour. On this day, we feel a special sense of pride in those whose heroism in the battlefields and selflessness on the home front made a decisive contribution to the defeat of fascism. The victory gained in battles 76 years ago vividly symbolises unbending will, high patriotism and indestructible friendship of the peoples,” Maripov said.

On May 9, the Pobeda motor rally took place in the capital that became a safe alternative to the annual Immortal Regiment march.  Its participants were isolated from one another in the cars. About a hundred cars, including rare cars of the times of the Great Patriotic War, decorated with flags and banners, drove through the city.
