Turkmenistan and Iran to expand cooperation in Caspian Sea

The topic was raised at the meeting of the Turkmen Ambassador Ahmet Gurbanov with the head of KEPCO Ali Osuli.

The head of the diplomatic mission of Turkmenistan, Ahmet Gurbanov, met with the General Director of the oil company KEPCO, Ali Osuli, in the capital of Iran. The parties discussed the prospects for expanding cooperation between the two countries in oil production. It was reported by the electronic newspaper «Golden Age» on May 2.

As part of the negotiations, the Iranian company presented projects for the development of oil fields in the Caspian Sea. Special attention was paid to the establishment of enterprises for the construction of ships in the northern part of the Islamic Republic and the experience of Iran in this direction. The emphasis was placed on the efficiency of the Iran-Kabir semiconductor platform.

Gurbanov stressed that Ashgabat is interested in expanding its partnership with Tehran in the engineering and technical field, as well as in using the relevant experience of the neighboring country in the Caspian Sea.

The official drew attention to the importance of the meeting of representatives of the relevant companies aimed at discussing the corresponding topics. The parties also agreed that the issue of building up relations in the field of fuel and energy complex should be put on the agenda of the meeting of the intergovernmental commission.

It must be added that KEPCO (Khazar Exploration and Production Company) is a division of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC).
