Japarov and Mirziyoyev discuss regional cooperation

The leaders of the two states noted with satisfaction that the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border had settled down.

On May 1, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov had a telephone conversation with his Uzbek counterpart Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The leaders of the two states discussed key aspects of regional interactions and bilateral cooperation, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reported.

They also exchanged views on the current situation and the ways of remedying the situation on the Kyrgyz-Tajik state border as soon as possible.

The interlocutors noted with satisfaction that the Kyrgyz and Tajik sides had reached agreements aimed at settling the situation and preventing it from aggravating.

It was emphasised that emerging controversies should be resolved through dialogue in the spirit of relations of centuries-old friendship, good neighbourliness, trust and partnerships.

As was reported, the President of Kyrgyzstan declared the days of national mourning on May 1-2. In accordance with the decree, the state flags would be flown half-mast throughout the country and on the buildings of diplomatic and consular offices abroad on these days.
