On April 30, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev had a telephone conversation with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon. The two leaders discussed the programme of the Uzbek leader’s visit to Tajikistan and highlighted the need to address the Kyrgyz-Tajik border issues solely through negotiations and consultations in the spirit of friendship, good neighbourliness and cooperation, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported to CentralAsia.news.
The parties focused on the current situation on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border and the ways of settling it down as soon as possible. Mirziyoyev highly evaluated the agreements reached by the two countries to remedy the situation and prevent it from aggravating.
The emphasis was placed on productive results of the working meeting between the Prime Ministers of the two states that took place in Khujand on April 24.
The leaders of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan highlighted the importance of jointly identifying new points of growth for full-scale bilateral partnerships for a long term.
