Japarov invites ESCAP to cooperate closely in boosting trade

The President of Kyrgyzstan says his country is interested in attracting foreign investors.

On April 26, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov addressed the 77th session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The President highlighted the importance of close cooperation among the Member States in promoting the trade sector and improving the standard of living of the people, the press office of the President of Kyrgyzstan reports.

In his welcoming remarks, Japarov presented his vision of the further development of the organisation and the elaboration of joint solutions necessary to strengthen economic cooperation in the region during the pandemic.

The President said the Kyrgyz Republic was a developing mountainous landlocked country, which significantly impeded the country’s ability to conduct foreign trade.

In this regard, Kyrgyzstan welcomes the ESCAP’s support through the UN Special Programme for the Economies of Central Asia.

As was reported, the authorities of the Republic were working towards improving investment and trade policies in order to attract foreign investors.
