Services sector in regions to receive US$ 500 million or 5.5 trillion soums

The banks will provide direct loans up to 18 trillion soums to implement the services sector projects.

On April 22, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the promotion of services sector development in the regions. The banks would provide direct loans up to 18 trillion soums to implement the services sector projects, the press office of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.

The commercial banks of the country will allocate US$ 300 million, of which US$ 150 million will reach the regions by July 1 this year.

Khokims of regions, districts and towns, heads of sectors and persons in charge of makhallas were tasked to create a list of makhalla - district - bank projects. It is planned to create at least 20 types of services in each mahalla and at least 70 types of services in towns and regions.

The National Bank of Uzbekistan will attract US$ 200 million to create tourist, transport, medical and educational services and build large shopping centres in 28 cities and towns. A total of US$ 500 million or 5.5 trillion soums will be allocated from the budget and banks to develop the services sector.

The emphasis was placed on the need to build service centres from lightweight structures in makhallas, which would give the people access to services. The streets of shopping and service centres will appear in 28 cities and regional centres with populations of over 150,000. Up to 100,000 business entities can operate on these streets.
