Kazakhstan budget adjusted to react to global market conditions

The additional costs relating to the improvement in the epidemic situation and additional payments to health workers were included.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev held a meeting to review the social and economic development of the country and the proposals for adjustments to the 2021 budget of the Republic. The cabinet ministers and high-ranking officials participated in the meeting, the press office of Akorda reported.

A representative of the executive state body presented the socio-economic projections and the proposals for budget adjustments, given the current global economic situation and market volatility. It was noted that the budget adjustments were aimed fulfiling the instructions set in the Address of the President to the People of Kazakhstan and implement the election programme of the Nur Otan party.

The meeting participants decided to allocate additional funds to develop the motor transport network, implement the Auyl - El Besigi project, support the business affected by the pandemic, enhance employment opportunities of the people and modernise the agricultural sector.

The additional costs relating to the improvement in the epidemic situation, additional payments to health workers, payment for health services, social benefits for military servicemen, flood prevention activities and expansion of water supply systems were included as well.

Tokayev instructed that strict control be taken over optimising the costs and increasing government revenues.
