President visits multispecialty medical centre in Samarkand

The Uzbekistan-India joint venture Zarmed Pratiksha Hospital Group opened the medical clinic worth US$ 8.5 million.

On April 16, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited a multispecialty medical centre in Samarkand, built by the Uzbekistan-India joint venture Zarmed Pratiksha Hospital Group, the press office of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

One of the founders of the joint venture Nishant Bajaj said the project had been motivated by the Uzbek leader’s visit to India and talks between the business circles of the two states.

The company allocated US$ 8.5 million to implement the project.

The clinic has 5 operating rooms and an in-patient ward of 100 beds. It is fitted with state-of-the-art cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, endoscopic surgery, urology, gynaecology, orthopaedics, traumatology and otolaryngology equipment. 600 patients can be admitted at a time to the medical centre. The clinic has created 140 new jobs.

— An enabling environment created in our country for private medicine makes it possible to increase the number of such modern clinics. The further task is to provide high-quality patient care and gain people’s trust, including those who seek medical care overseas, — the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan said.

The high-ranking officials were instructed to create a medical cluster in Samarkand Region, consisting of a medical university and a clinic.
