Kazakhstan and Roscosmos target to deepen cooperation

Prime Minister Mamin said Baikonur that had rightfully entered ‘space history’ had been the largest launch harbour on the planet for 65 years.

On April 9, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin had a meeting with Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation Dmitry Rogozin during his working visit Baikonyr city, Kyzylorda Region. The parties discussed the upcoming stages of cooperation in space exploration, the press office of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan reported.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Director General of the Roscosmos State Corporation watched the launch and docking of the Soyuz MS-18 piloted aircraft with the ISS from the base of the Baikonur Cosmodrome. Then the parties discussed the key aspects of the Kazakhstan-Russia tandem in the space sector.

A plenary session of the conference dedicated to the 60th anniversary of the first human spaceflight took place on that day. Askar Mamin read out the welcome address of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev to the participants.

Mamin emphasised that Baikonur that had rightfully entered ‘space history’ had been the largest launch harbour on the planet for 65 years. 150 cosmonauts, including representatives of Kazakhstan, have been sent from it to the stars. The Prime Minister expressed belief that fruitful cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia would provide ample opportunities to implement many more joint space exploration projects and programmes.
