Russian vector remains key priority for Kazakhstan’s foreign policy

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan held talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, who had arrived in Nur-Sultan for an official visit.

On April 8, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Tleuberdi held talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs  of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov, who had arrived for an official visit. The Kazakh diplomat noted that the Russian vector remained the key priority for Kazakhstan’s foreign policy, the press office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan reported to Centralasia.news.

The ministers discussed the current state of affairs and prospects for Kazakhstan-Russia interactions in the economic and political spheres and the military technology, energy, transit and transport sectors. They also dwelt on the aspects of bilateral collaboration within the CIS, EAEU, CSTO, SCO and CICA.

“Kazakhstan highly values allied relations between the two countries,” Mukhtar Tleuberdi emphasised in his opening remarks.

The officials exchanged views on the events happening in the world, including regional stability in the Middle East, South Caucasus and Central Asia.

The parties discussed the preparations for top- and high-level meetings and the agenda of the XVII Russia-Kazakhstan Interregional Cooperation Forum in Kokshetau, which the leaders of the two countries would attend.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev will receive the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia.
