Uzbekistan and Korea agree to implement projects US$ 3 billion worth

Mirziyoyev emphasised with great satisfaction ongoing strong exchanges and dynamic interactions between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea.

On April 6, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the working group of the Republic of Korea headed by Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Park Byeong-seug. The guest noted that the major enterprises and banks of South Korea had prepared a portfolio of new investment projects worth over US$ 3 billion, the official website of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

The parties highlighted the important role of parliaments in strengthening friendly relations and strategic cooperation between the two states. They also noted that Uzbekistan and Korea were maintaining bilateral trade flows that was increasing with every passing year in difficult economic conditions.

The parties focused on enhancing bilateral partnerships in the fields of healthcare, innovative technologies, digital transformations and economic diversification and developing preschool education in Uzbekistan.

The guests expressed sincere gratitude to the leader of Uzbekistan for his active and dynamic efforts in expanding multifaceted cooperation between the Republics and his firm support for Seoul’s efforts to reach a peaceful resolution to the situation on the Korean Peninsula and its regional initiatives under the New Northern Policy.

The Uzbek side thanked the Republic of Korea for providing assistance in curbing the coronavirus pandemic.

“Mr. President is a very good interlocutor, he is open. We are sympathetic to him with all our hearts, and we will look forward to the visit of Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Republic of Korea,” Park Byeong-seug told reporters.
