President of Turkmenistan creates charity orphans fund

The money will be directed to the provision of medical and educational services, recreation opportunities, and other needs.

On March 29, at a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced a decision to create a special charity fund to help children deprived of parental care. It was reported by the state news agency «Turkmenistan Today».

Berdimuhamedov announced his intention to be the first to make a contribution to this fund from his salary. According to him, the relevant non-profit organization will be open for local and foreign citizens. The accounts will be serviced by the Central Bank. Its funds will be aimed at providing services in the spheres of medicine and education, recreation and meet other needs of young citizens.

The head of the Mejlis, Gulshat Mammedova, proposed to name the foundation after the current leader of the country, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The corresponding initiative was supported by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov and several other officials.

Within the framework of the resolutions signed by the President and the head of the Mejlis, the charter, structure, and staffing of the organization were approved. According to the documents, the official name of the foundation is Charity Fund for Assisting Children in Need of Guardianship named after Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
