1 million ZF-UZ-VAC 2001 vaccine doses arrive in Uzbekistan

The COVID-19 vaccine co-developed by Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co. Ltd.  and Uzbek experts has passed through the Phase 3 trials.

On March 27, 1 million doses of the ZF-UZ-VAC 2001 vaccine co-developed by Uzbekistan and China arrived in Uzbekistan. The vaccine developed by Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co. Ltd., has passed through the Phase 3 trials, the press office of the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan reports.

The two countries agreed to cooperate in developing and using the new coronavirus vaccine. The ZF-UZ-VAC 2001 recombinant vaccine against the novel strain of COVID-19 was approved for use on March 1, 2021.

As was reported, 660,000 AstraZeneca vaccine doses were delivered to Uzbekistan on March 17 this year. In cooperation with GAVI, the Ministry of Health is planning to import vaccines, syringes and disposal containers until the end of the year.

To date, 3,138 vaccination points and 962 mobile vaccination teams throughout the country are preparing to launch the vaccination campaign. UNICEF has provided the country with 223 vehicles for vaccine delivery to the regions.

Senior citizens, healthcare workers, people with chronic health conditions, school and preschool staffs and law enforcement officers will be the first to receive the vaccine.
