On March 25, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov held a meeting with Chairman of the State Financial Intelligence Service (SFIS) Kanatbek Turgunbekov to discuss the measures taken against money-laundering and the financing of terrorism, the press office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
The President highlighted the need to intensify efforts to search, seize, confiscate and return assets acquired illicitly or criminally to the country.
Japarov instructed to establish close collaboration between the Financial Intelligence Service and the business community in adopting financial management mechanisms, ensuring financial transparency and improving the rating and investment attractiveness of Kyrgyzstan.
The Chairman of the State Financial Intelligence Service reported on the measures taken against money laundering and the financing of terrorism. He said the decision to raise the rating of Kyrgyzstan by 13 positions had been adopted at the 31st plenary meeting of the Eurasian Group on Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism (EAG).
