These mudflow protection structures will contribute to the formation of favorable conditions for animal husbandry in the Karakum Desert.
On March 24, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a working trip to the southern part of the capital. There he got acquainted with the construction of mud stream diversion channels and water collection facilities. The head of the state directed to pay special attention to control over the level of environmental welfare, as reported by «Turkmenistan Today».
First of all, Berdimuhamedov took a look at the sketches and designs of mudflow protection structures in the area of the future sculpture of Magtymguly Fragi. The President also got acquainted with the construction of mudflow channels, which will flow to the Karakum River. The total length of the canals will be 52 km.
Mudflow and sediment-water will flow through a common channel to Lake Altyn asyr. Large water collectors will be built along the channels to clean water. The lake will also collect drainage water from irrigated lands of all regions. According to experts, this process will stimulate the development of sheep breeding and the expansion of pastures on the territory of the Karakum Desert.
The construction of the corresponding structures is carried out by the Russian construction company Vozrozhdeniye. As part of a government decree, the complex should be commissioned in September 2022.
