On March 15, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon approved the symbols of the International Holiday of Navruz and the New National Year for 2019-2021. These are the tree with sumanak and the globe surrounded by the national symbols and heralds of the arrival of spring, the press office of the President of Tajikistan reports.
The first symbol features the fir tree with seven bowls. Each of them has a dish with sumanak inside it. The bowls are decorated with national embroideries and have a Navruz flower on the top.
Representatives of science, folklore and ethnography of Tajikistan have agreed that the symbols of the holiday of the arrival of spring should comprise boycechak (snowdrop), a tulip, yellow flowers, a fruit tree twig, fairy tale birds (simurg and swallow), sumanak and a Navruz flower.
The second symbol features the globe, surrounded by the national flag, sumanak, swallows and patterns. It has a round shape. There is an inscription “Navruz-2021” in the Tajik language in the middle of the lower section.
As was reported, the world’s tallest dish with sumanak stands in the centre of Dushanbe. The tree-like structure is 30 metres in height.
